Over the last 18 years we have travelled to a number of different countries

  • 2006 Hong Kong 7 nights.  Staying in one hotel and visiting many sites in Hong and the New Territories

  •  2008 Hong Kong 7 nights in same hotel and South Wales 7 nights staying with relatives

  • 2009 Vietnam and Cambodia.  Visiting only Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) an interesting mix of traditional Vietnam and old French colonialism.  We had a good walk around and also a boat ride to Vung Tau.  Spent 7 nights in Siem Reap Cambodia.  Although an interesting town to wander in it is mainly tourist orientated with lots of bars, hotels and a large market but the main attraction is the temples.  If you want to appreciate the temples we believe that the 7 nights we spent there was only getting close to enough time to visit them.  A wonderful experience seeing as many as possible in the time and the history is awe inspiring. We hired one Tuk Tuk for the whole 7 days we were there, leaving early in the morning because of the heat.  Also several nights in Phnom Penh and travelling by bus and also a ferry on the Mekong to Chao Doc Vietnam and Phu Quoc Island Vietnam (A great holiday resort at the end of the trip) by bus, bike ride, motorcycle and ferry.

  •  2010 Hong Kong and China.  Travelling by bullet train from Shenzhen to Guangzhuo.  Two nights and a day in Guangzhuo then a bus through to Guilin and two nights and a day there.  Then a fabulous river boat ride down the flooded Li River to the beautiful village of  Yangshuo.  We spent a few days here and visited Huangyao historic village very interesting history tour and the Silver Caves very big and colourful.  Silver Caves have an interesting war history search on the net.  Back to Guangzhuo and a few nights in Hong Kong.

  • 2011 China again.  Different places.  About 5 nights or so in Beijing.  This included the Forbidden City, Summer Palace and Tiananmen Square also Temple of Heaven Park the Legation District and a trip to the Great Wall.  A side trip to very historic cities in South China.  Train trip to Zhengzhou by bullet train two nights and hire car to Kaifeng.  Following day by hire car to Shaolin Temple and Louyang for a couple of nights.  Then on to Xian the home of the Terracotta Warriors.  Very historic city and the origin of the name China so much to see.  Back to Beijing.

  • 2012 Singapore and Malaysia.  A couple or so nights in Singapore including visiting various historic places.  Singapore is clean, modern and impressive but seems to have lost some of its history. The main aim is to travel to Malaysia.  Easy bus ride into Malaysia through to Melaka (Malacca).  Very historic trading place but a little run down.  Travelled again by bus to Kuala Lumpur.  Not a great lover of this city. Very good rail transport system and some interesting historic sights but also very dirty. Travelled by ancient but very interesting train ride to Butterworth and then by ferry to Penang.  Penny had travelled through Singapore and Malaysia in the early1970's and found both including Penang rather disappointing compared to what they were like during the British era.

  • 2016 May / June.  Singapore and Hong Kong.  This was mainly a rest time having bought and sold properties in the last few years.  A week in Singapore seeing some sights we hadn't seen including the Marina Sands Hotel.  From the roof the best view of Singapore and very expensive beer at the bar.  A fortnight in Hong Kong at our favourite Hotel, Harbour Plaza Resort City Ginza in the western New Territories.  Always lots to see in Hong Kong.  A lot of new stuff going on but the historic areas are always preserved and kept in good order.  Love it.

Thailand 2013.  According to information for Australians we have to book a return ticket.
May be correct or no but we felt that was the best thing to do although it restricts us to a particular time and date.
Again just booked the first 7 nights in Bangkok then booking as we go for the next 30 days
